Artists portrait of Joan Miró

Joan Miró

  • Born: 20. April 1893
  • Died: 25. December 1983
Joan Miró, born on April 20th 1893, started with cubism and was then lastingly influenced by the Bauhaus-master Paul Klee which led to the creation of a cosmos filled with dream-like beings from beyond. That way he created a light-footed collection of droll and burlesque creatures and figures that, along with the works of Salvador Dali and René Magritte, are among the best-known and outstanding examples of surrealism. In 1919, he paid his first visit to Paris, where he became a friend of Pablo Picasso. His first Parisian one-man-exhibition in 1921 was a disaster. As of 1923, he encounters the Surrealists centred around André Breton for the first time. In 1934 he commenced his "wild" period with pastel colours on velour-paper and took part in international surrealist-exhibitions in New York and Paris in 1935 and 1938. In 1944, he created his first ceramic works and from 1947 onwards, he is already represented as an internationally acclaimed artist in Europe and the United States. In 1956, he moved back for good to Barcelona, where, as of 1960, he developed a generous-abstract style, the "Peinture Nouvelle". Wall-ceramics and sculptures became his second major field of work. In 1970, a huge ceramic work of his was installed at Barcelona airport, followed by multicoloured monumental sculptures for the Esplanade de la Défense, Paris in 1978. Miró died on December 25, 1983 at the age of 90 on Palma de Mallorca.
To our knowledge the art works on this page were created in the years from 1925 to 1925.
The pictures are predominantly assigned to the art direction Abstract Art.
The art works of the artist are dominated by the colors white, pastel and blue.

Art Prints

We deliver exclusively art prints from well-known art publishers in brilliant quality, such as the art print »The singing fish« from Joan Miró. Classic art prints are normally produced by offset or screen printing. In this case, often also spot colours and embossments are used.

Graphic Arts

Prints or graphics, often also called prints or original graphics, are always created with the collaboration of the artist as prints of special quality. The printing process used by the artist is chosen in such a way that the artwork is shown to its best advantage, as for example in »Escultor Great Britain steinsigniert« by Joan Miró.

Stretcher on canvas

Our canvas prints are handmade in our own workshop. Either the canvas print or the art print laminated on a canvas is stretched onto a quality keyless frame. Perfectly wedged and provided with a suspension, the canvas image can be hung directly. Optionally, we also offer each canvas picture framed, i.e. with floater frame. »Painting composition« of Joan Miró as a canvas image also beautifies your home.

Framed pictures

We frame almost every picture. You can choose from many different frames. Passepartouts are just as much a part of your choice as are various options for surface protection. So »Blue II« of Joan Miró becomes a highlight for your living room or bedroom.
